The Directorate of Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Studies provides institutional
leadership in the planning, coordination, and regulation of research and postgraduate
activities at DMI St Eugene University. The Directorate exists to ensure that research and
innovation activities are conducted in a structured, ethical, and quality-assured manner
consistent with the Higher Education Act, HEA guidelines, and internationally accepted
academic standards.
The Directorate is responsible for establishing and implementing policies, procedures, and
frameworks that guide research development, postgraduate supervision, innovation, and
knowledge dissemination. It promotes a research-driven academic environment that supports
evidence-based teaching, contributes to national development priorities, and enhances the
University’s academic standing.
In collaboration with faculties and departments, the Directorate oversees postgraduate
research programmes to ensure compliance with approved curricula, supervision standards,
progression regulations, and examination procedures. It also ensures that research ethics,
intellectual property management, and scholarly integrity are upheld in accordance with
regulatory and professional requirements.
Through strategic partnerships, grant mobilisation, and capacity-building initiatives, the
Directorate supports staff and students in undertaking relevant, impactful, and publishable
research. The Directorate further promotes innovation and knowledge transfer as mechanisms
for translating research outputs into practical solutions for industry, policy, and community
development in Zambia and the region.
